Any one remember Rose Thomson from Babe the Blue Ox? Awesome bassist. Just killed it. And curly hair. Far right in the picture below. Strangely enough the guitarist for the band sounds like Belew.

Definitely. Sometimes she would just beat the hell out of the bass while singing with an incredibly sweet voice. Interesting song forms, time signatures and progressions. It must be the curly hair.

Rose Thomson is an incredible bass player. And fretless to boot. I had the pleasure of seeing a ton in the early to mid nineties. NYC was a great place to see new and interesting bands back then.
Julie's tone and playing were great. The club they played here is a great place to see a show, but the soundman is getting deaf and tends to turn it up to bleeding ears level. And I forgot to bring plugs.

I, for one, am tired of watching guys play. Not being sexist, but equal time man. Tired of young "guy bands" too. I should think gals of 18-21 have as much to say as guys, without the new testosterone edge.

Adrian pulled her (and her brother) right out of the Paul Green School of Rock, because they impressed him so much.
I work at the Salt Lake City branch of the school, and I always use her (and her brother) as an example to my students that their time at the school looks pretty damn good on a resume.

SWEET!!! Believe it or not, back in the day (1980's) I used that same sort of tone in an r&b/funk band!
That may be why no one has heard of me and I am typing this post instead of doing a cool session somewhere.
