First time with chromes!

i finally tried out some chromes. i ordered them too short for string thru, so i had to top load them on my lakland 44-94.

so far so good! they have just been on a few days and had about 30 minutes of playing time on them, before i tried them at practice last night.

for pretty much right out of the box, they sounded very good. they set in the mix great, not too bright or boomy.

i have tried ti's and dr's on the 44-94 and so far, these sound the best.

i be lovin' my ti's though, they are going back on my p.

I just got some chromes today too! 50-105's. Def more tension than the stock rounds on my p bass but I had them installed by a pro. With that tension it def needed an adjustment. A little truss rod and intonation adjustments did the trick. Now.....oh my god. I am glad I didnt install them myself.lol It growls like an angry bear!!!

Chromes are nice and I'm liking the tone a LOT, but they sure are slippery! not that that's a bad thing - just taking some time getting used to 'em!

I'm more used to rounds and halfies. But the flats are STAYIN' on the P!!

Fender has reformulated their flats. After 35+ years as a roundwound guy, I've switched. They're the only flat that has it all: meat, consistency, durability, tone, (not hollow), don't "thin out" as you play up the neck, manageable tension. The word on the street is that in January there will be a "CL" set of 45-60-80-105 to go with the "L" set that has a 100. Hey, I like them so much I even put a piece of foam back under my "Ashtray" bridge cover to get the traditional sound!
