Not all of us have tried everything out there.
Much of this has to do with Tradition, Comfort and Predicatability.
Why?![]()
Well now I'm mad that the brand I like doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I guess I'll have to sell them to some idiot who doesn't realize that you should only buy the most recognized brand and buy a GK head.its nice to know that brands that i support get the recognition they deserve.

...Sure, they sound good, and they have established themselves in the market for a reason,...
Because it isn't.
These brands were prominent when electric instruments were just starting out, and they've established themselves as standards. Overrated or not, they're what people tend to compare things to.
Sorry, but I don't see it that way. If I say to a guitarist, "I think your SG works better for this music than your Strat," or say to a drummer, "That big snare drum sounds better than that smaller one" (and believe me, I have said similar things many times), I'm not listening with my eyes. I'm listening to the characteristics of each piece and making value judgments based on my ears and not my eyes. It's a fact that a Strat and an SG sound different. So if I can hear a difference, why is it a stretch to believe that other musicians can tell the difference between a Fender/Ampeg and another rig? That's it.
Part of the problem is that people listen with their eyes and not their ears.
Sorry, but I don't see it that way....I'm not listening with my eyes.
...if some of the other popular manufacturers would make cabs/amps that look good in a rock/metal setting lots more of those bands would use them. Some of those manufacturers are but it seems they have only started doing this recently.
yeah...I dunno.I haver to agree with that one, I am not in US and a see gk as a back line everywhere never played a ampeg as a backline( off us) besides mineI've visited and played in several countries and speaking of world, although Fender is really the standard on basses, you see way more GK800RB's than SVT's... WAYYY more... As TalkBass is an international site I feel confident to say that GK is the standard in bass amplification, not Ampeg.
Sorry, but I don't see it that way.
