Flaming bass!

I did the same thing to my first guitar, but all I have is pictures.

Utterly lame and idiotic. And they say, "we kick Hendrix's ass." Hmm, let's do some analysis.

Hendrix was playing ground-breaking music when he launched into burning his guitar.

Hendrix wasn't really blatantly copying anyone's act.

Hendrix's guitar was plugged in, and he continued his sonic assault during the song as it burned.

These tools:

Aren't playing music.

Are copying someone they probably don't even understand.

Likely don't have an original or creative bone in their bodies.

They have to set their lame video to someone else's music (copyright infringement anyone?) likely because they don't have enough talent or balls to create their own. Oh, except for playing RockBand.

Punk losers. Fail.

You should see my brothers...

I don't have a strict rule about burning instruments. I burned my first electric guitar (a $25 special that was a total POS) at a gig. But at least I was playing a gig, switched to that guitar for the song (Voodoo Chile - Slight Return iirc), lit it on fire while it was plugged in and then smashed it. An homage to Jimi. No way I would ever say that I "kicked his ass" or even that it was that impressive. Felt like the right thing to do in the moment and it was an almost unplayable instrument.

But these guys aren't creating art - they are just destroying a tool of art and making disparaging comments along the way. Lame imho.
