Flaming Lips Effect On Worm Mountain

Does anyone know what effect(s) Michael Ivins, from the Flaming Lips, is using on Worm Mountain?



Any insight would be appreciated.

His pedals are a boss fl2, boss odb3, boss syb3, and a boss syb5.

that's the ODB-3, perhaps with some octave from one of his synth pedals thrown in.

I thought it was maybe a fuzz, with a synth pedal, but it's just the OD and a synth? What's the difference between the syb3, and a boss syb5?

Live it's usually Wave 7 (I think) on the Boss SYB-3. He has both, because the SYB-3 has a few different waves that make for killer fuzzes. On the record, however, it is a Systech Overdrive or Harmonic Energizer. I've got one of the Overdrives and it is literally identical sonically to the sound on the record. In addition, I believe it was Wayne Coyne or Steven Drozd who played it on the album. There is an interview with Drozd where he details the pedals used on that album, and the Systech stuff was used pretty heavily, according to him.
