Flat White Coffee?

My girlfriend got back from Oz and she said she tried a really nice coffee called what she thinks is a "Flat White". Now, me, wanting to expand my horizons... what is this magical drink?

just wondering on what you guys put in it, whats your favourite mixture, etc?
im guessing this is a coffee made from milk, with coffee and sugar added, right?

Theres nothing special about a flat white

White coz of the milk
Flat because no froth ala cappuccino

It's my preferred coffee, no mucking about straight to the drinking and smoking

Hey MicroBass - I think they're saying it's nothing special - as in, it's the name for an ordinary coffee and not something fancy like a "decaf moccachino with almond syrup"!!

Exactly. Add milk to black coffee. Sugar is optional. That's all it is.

Though your girlfriend probably had a cafe variety which is more like a cappaccino but without the froth.

A latte is different over here. Latte is half coffee, half milk, so it's usually pretty weak and served in a tall glass. A Flat while is mostly coffee with just a little bit of milk usually served in a mug.

I just got back from Oz and discovered the same thing. Though it is actually slightly frothy, delicous coffee though.

Well - this is what a "Latte" is like in Brighton - although it may be differnet in other countries of course!
