Flat White Coffee?

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Microbass, Jul 21, 2004.

  1. My girlfriend got back from Oz and she said she tried a really nice coffee called what she thinks is a "Flat White". Now, me, wanting to expand my horizons... what is this magical drink?

just wondering on what you guys put in it, whats your favourite mixture, etc?
im guessing this is a coffee made from milk, with coffee and sugar added, right?

    cheers! :hyper:

Wait, you don't have access to the TB Coffee forum??

(hint: it's not on the DB side, either)

  4. Theres nothing special about a flat white

    White coz of the milk
Flat because no froth ala cappuccino

It's my preferred coffee, no mucking about straight to the drinking and smoking :D

This is interesting because my friend just came back from America with this excellent food called a "Sandwich" :)

Hey MicroBass - I think they're saying it's nothing special - as in, it's the name for an ordinary coffee and not something fancy like a "decaf moccachino with almond syrup"!! ;)

Exactly. Add milk to black coffee. Sugar is optional. That's all it is.

Though your girlfriend probably had a cafe variety which is more like a cappaccino but without the froth.

    Coffee rocks!

I think we might call this a "Latte" - well in the Cafe society of Brighton - don't know about Glasgow! ;)

A latte is different over here. Latte is half coffee, half milk, so it's usually pretty weak and served in a tall glass. A Flat while is mostly coffee with just a little bit of milk usually served in a mug.

  10. I just got back from Oz and discovered the same thing. Though it is actually slightly frothy, delicous coffee though.

    :D

Drink more coffee and you'll be more alert. I recommend a flat white.

I shall try this tomorrow morning and report back. Coffee with tons of sugar and a little half and half just isn't doing it for me anymore.

  15. I don't drink any coffee, I'll stick to coke :smug:

  16. Not if I can help it. mwahahaHAHAHAHA :ninja: :ninja: :D

Well - this is what a "Latte" is like in Brighton - although it may be differnet in other countries of course!
