I've put flats on my Hofner 500/1 Contemporary (La Bella 'Beatle Bass' strings) and love the smooth groove they give me.
But loads of people have done that.
Has anyone tried putting flats on a Warwick Rockstar Starbass 5-string?
I've currently go Warwick's standard Red Label 45-135 pro-steels on the Starbass. But, listening to the difference the flats made to the Hofner, I'm wondering if they would give a similarly smooth sound on the Starbass.
(I have my Jack Casady signature with Dean Markey steels and a Ibanez Artcore AGB205 with nicklewounds for when I want bite and bark!)
