Maybe THAT's what "PLEK" really means!

'Interesting discussion.
I just put some Roto flats on my old Precision. I packed the strings with some foam near the bridge and put the covers back on - going all out old school. The sound is stonking! I don't really lkike the feel...yet; but the sound is great especially with a nice warm and responsive old Fender Bassman 135 rig. They've only been on the P for about 2 weeks and I am keeping Rounds on my other basses; but I am really looking forward to these flats bedding-in to produce more sounds at about 6 mths old. #
If string mutes, valves and ancient flats were good enough for Jamerson, who are we mere mortals to argue?

In the same boat as you mate
Love the tone, not liking the feel. Flats are not as responsive as rounds IMO.
I got to agree with this, people say thier easier on the fingers
IMHO they require more stregnth making them harder on my digets

Tonally responsive, I presume? Like; variations in playing coming out the speaker?
For Chromes, I agree. I find TIJFs more responsive than Rounds.
I was referring to more of the feel. Rounds seems easier to play faster then flats. They are more responsive to the fingers. Flats tonally can't be beat IMO

Flats definitely have their place. That place is in the dumpster.
How do you know when flats are dead and need replacing?
