Flats that are "off the grid"?

Most people seem to forget about Rotosounds flats. If you tried them never mind. I tried em once and liked the high tension and growly low mids but I just loved rounds more.

Invalid Link Removed, makes a variety of flats. Their "Jaco" series, are tonally similar to TI's, the tension feels slightly stiffer, but not by much.
The Dogal, Invalid Link Removed strings are similar to Chromes.

Recently, I've taken quite the shine to Invalid Link Removed

I use Newtonestrings exclusively.
They are fantastic but don't make flat wounds at the moment.

Well, ok perhaps not literally forever, but 5 to 8 years or more is very practical. They just get thumpier and thumpier.

They do last a very long time. I've had flats on instruments 10+ years and they sound great.

Have you tried Thomastik? Like was mentioned, without knowing what you have tried makes this thread pointless.

Also, everyone has their own personal idea of what great feel and tone is. Asking others to recommend strings for you is a risky proposition.

strings literally lasting forever is not possible.

I've had Daddarios on my Dano Silvertone for 35 years now. Yes, they still tune up OK.

I've had Ernie Balls on my 61 P-Bass (it was what Bass NW strung it up with it when I bought it) for around ten years so far. No plans to change them unless they break (not too likely).

I'd never keep rounds on that long but flats seem to last forever, at least for me.

Had a set on a used bass that I bought, sounded really good, not too bright or too dull. Pretty stiff (no more than Chromes) but I think they were heavy guage.
