I went to a live show like a week ago. He did some pretty nasty bass impros in between songs, but yeah in the new songs, he's changed a lot. His style is very different from before specially cause it's not as funky as before.

The way RHCP keeps changing is the reason I still enjoy them. I don't think I could find myself remaining a fan of a band that stayed the same for nearly three decades.
You are correct. He's using Acoustic USA 360's. He uses 3 full rigs for his live performances.
lmao..i knew i would be coming back to this sooner or laterFlea is really onboard with the Acoustic USA stuff. He contacted them and bought 12 amps! Then dyed his hair blue.
I am sure that it will change some tone live - but if you are going direct through the PA - how much? Plus - the new amps have a mid range horn so freq response is better than the old W bins. Thus - he should be able to dial in any tone he wants.
Personally - I was not much a a RHCP fan - until now. But then - I am into the idea of the new Acoustic to.
also, i saw him in dublin last week playing. he just has modulus's on tour with him. i think even his jazz is made by modulus. And he still has his trusty stingray 5, although i didnt see it at the gig, but its proof that all good bassist will have a stingray somewhere in their arsenal! and yes, gk amps, and active pre-amp. he doesnt really use pedals, just really high end gear.
They played Bogota on Sept 11th with the Acoustics
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way - Bogota - I´m with You Tour 2011 HD - YouTube
Played with the GK's 2 days ago in London!
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Around the World - O2 Arena London November 7, 2011 - YouTube

Still had the Acoustics on Aug 9th (Tokyo i believe)...but by Aug 22nd (Roxy gig) he was back using the GK's....and still using the GK's according to miltong565 last week.
hmmm...wonder why he switched
miltong565 said:i saw them last week in dublin, and let me tell you, flea hasnt lost it at all. deep punchy tones mixed with springy highs, it was brilliant. i cant think of a better abnd to go see live. also, his new stuff is quite difficult to play. try monarchy of roses. I didnt like the new album, but after hearing it live, im converted![]()
I basically watched parts of 20 something vids from the current tour to see what gear he was using and when he switched and I can tell you know that I watched this much that I could audible decipher between the two sounds/tones with my eyes closed
His GK's sound way better, I have done an audio engineering course and I am confident in my statement and that I know what I'm talking about!

I don't get why Anthony is the weak link in the band. Lol imagine rhcp with Clapton type of lyrics, he wrote wonderful stuff , c'mon who else can wrote a lyric where it says " hardcore soft porn "
Or one of my favourites "Ning ning, nong nong nang nang, nong nong, nang nang."
i've never heard of "acoustic" amps, maybe its an american thing?
