Flea Fender Custom Shop Bass

Likely correct, but this post was in response to a post stating that "no one of note" played them before Flea.
I seem to recall reading an interview with him around when Mother's Milk came out and that he had settled on the Stingray live because other stuff he had used wasn't reliable live (from all the banging and jumping around). I'm a little skeptical of this for a Wal or a Spector, but I could fathom him preferring to beat the snot out of something that wasn't particularly expensive
I;ve always heard that he didn't think the Wal or SPector were cool enough to play live.
I heard them live on Nova Rock two weeks ago, his bass sounded nice, big lows, crispy highs (kinda scoped) and hi-fi, very similar to his Modulus tone. It's all the same tonal profile with the single H in the sweet spot.
I like his old ray tone the most, it's less hi-fi, sounds bouncier and grittier:

Now if only they'd sell a brand spanking new one, not a dinged up old one.so did anyone here wanted fender to replicate the vintage jazz?

Ahhhhh, ok. I think you interpreted what I said incorrectly. Flea is not a salesman but he is making a sales pitch every single time you see him in an ad. Flea sells a pile of gear through his endorsements, which is why people pay him big sums of money and court him away from other companies. Flea's name carries weight. I suppose to respond to "what site does he sell gear through" the answer would be any site that carries the brands he endorses.
I was surprised about the Wal, too. At least until I took a much closer look at the video for "Suck my kiss" which looks like it was shot during the recording sessions. And sure enough he's got the Wal.
But yeah, all of those gear ads back in the 90's that featured Flea were either for Ernie Ball/Musicman or Gallien Krueger. And true to form I can still remember that in almost every visit to Sam Ash back in the 90's you would hear someone trying to cop Flea's "Higher Ground" bass line when they would try out a bass. At the time, I was a little surprised when he went to Modulus because he was so closely identified with the Stingray. But since then he's played a lot of different instruments.
