Double Bass Flexocor Stark E

Oh, MAN, that’s a great string. It doesn’t growl like a Spiro but will do pretty much whatever you ask it to.
Had a full set of 92 Starks on an old German wreck and it just roared, especially under the bow. The Stark E under 92 Mittel ADG really changes the character of the overall set in a very positive way.

Ugh, this is badly timed for my string neuroses.
I've been working on some music and worrying that my Spiro Weich E/C was just a smidge too flabby. It's a great string overall and sounds great, but I think I need to be able to push it just a bit harder without bottoming it out. I don't know that I want to go full Spiro Mittel, but the tension of the Stark E is right around what a Bel Canto E would be but a little less than a Spiro Mittel E.

I used spiros for decades.. all gauges. I am after Fleoxocor because they bow easier and may be a bit softer and am not a fan of the very metallic spiro sound. It looks like the Flex '92 stark E is a great choice. I'll let you know once I get it on my bass.

Yes. those are the flex 92 Starks. Piroastro DOES list them under just 'Flexocor' title.
Nice. Depriving extension players of that fabulous string was dumber than using the same name for three strings.
I am aware that I am looking to strings to solve a technique issue, and that the real answer is practicing more, however- for those of y'all that have experience with both, how do Flexocores compare with Spiros in terms of buzz/growl/mwah on stopped notes (pizz) and power? I'd like to retain the power of my Spiro A, but when playing bluegrass in B flat or B when it comes time to really mash the one I'm getting a bit too much buzz.
Which Flexocors? Flex Deluxe Mittel will get you close to what you describe, but they’re stiff at tension.
