Fly Fishing, too?

Oh, I could make time to do it and I live within minutes of some world class limestone streams. Point is. . . I would "forget" to do other things like work, home maintence, church stuff. I know my gear spending and fly tieing would be all consuming. Some day, I will do that and photography, my other consuming hobby. I just switched from restoring cars to building guitars. In the past 6 months, I built 5 kits, refinished amother handful of guitars, just built my first scatch built (project Sting-Ray in Luthiers Corner) and have a line on and am aquiring 5 large, fairly expensive stationary power tools. It's how I am wired, I guess, all in or all out. I just want to do and try to master so many things in a short life! Haha. Someday, I WILL pick up a fly rod, it may be my next venture!

I have tried it a couple times and boy do have to be quick with a barbless hook, I found that a #2 mepps spinner on a spinning rod with light line to be fairly effective for the wiley trout. I would like to Fly fish again someday though, its definitely a skill to be mastered. I like the fact that the choice of fly to be in tune with the natural world.

agreed, not the same animal at all. I can appreciate the zen aspect of the fly cast. Spinning rod is very easy in comparison , but effective. I used to work with an avid fly fisherman and he was going to show me some stuff but then we all got laid off and I've lost touch with him. I will get back into again some day I'm sure of it

Did an overnight to eastern Sierra this week. Mid 80's, snow capped mountains, brown trout taking dry flies from snow melt waters. Great couple of days.

Bishop Creek - first time I've fished it, obviously locals use this pool for other purposes

Love fly fishing too. Use to a good bit of it, but haven't been fishing or hunting much since about 07. The only thing about trout fishing that I hated was the walk back.

Is that between town and the big switchback on the 168? I never thought to fish there.

Fishing with dry flies kicks so much butt but it seem like 90% of time, I'm nymphing.

Dixon Lane east of Brockman. Usually fish 5 Bridges road on Lower Owens, about mile plus east of this spot.

Think bait fisher persons, haha, frequent this spot on weekends, mid week it's fliers. Fair amount of traffic on gravel road, DWP trucks too, mostly locals cutting across.
