Hi all,

So I went for the SG in the end, got it for £600 in the UK (they usually retail for £650 and up) so i got a good deal! As always, pics for you all, and thanks to all that helped me in this thread!

A couple of points, firstly, I love how light it is (compared to my les paul), and secondly the rosewood on the fretboard is soooo red, its lovely :hyper:. Do you think this is natural or perhaps stained that way?

A couple of quirks, notice that the neck pup is slightly wonky (But check out the colour of the rosewood!!!), and the finishing on the chamfered edges and horns is a little suspect, anyone else have this?

TBH it doesn't bother me as its a worn finish that will only get that way over time anyway, and it adds character!

It's almost identical to my first bass, which I got in or around 1971. I still have that bass. I still love that bass. Great ergonomics. Light. Tossable.

BTW, compared to a Les Paul, boat anchors are "light.":D

My first bass was one of these:

Probably nowhere near as nice as your first bass, but similar body style. It was a pleasure to play, and I wish I still had it. I doubt I'll ever try to find one, but I would go with another SG-style Gibson bass at some point.

You found a very high quality instrument there.

What is that thing?! I've never seen that in my entire life.
