i'm adding this post on my experience yesterday...

i played an outdoor gig (on ebg) in the shade on a stage next to the rio grande river. it was about 100 degrees fahrenheit, humid, and about 112 on the heat index. i brought a fan for me, but none for my amp...

i used my focus series 3 (one channel) into a 4 ohm 18" and a 4 ohm 2x8" crossed over at 150 hz. we played for 6 hours. there were no issues at all with the rig, no thermal shutdown, just lots of bass all day long. later, ron

I should clarify that my Focus also performs perfectly well in the shade. The one time I had a problem with thermal shutdown there was no choice but to place the amp in direct sunlight. After the shutdown I used my car's air conditioner to cool the amp. By that time the sun had changed position and shade was available onstage. I put the Focus in the shade and had no problems the rest of the gig.

OK I ordered the thing. Thanks for all the advice. Just got off the phone with the fine folks at Link Removed around 2:30p and they said I can probably expect the rig TOMORROW. It has already shipped. Talk about service.

So the thing came today. I ordered it yesterday at 2:30p and it was here in 24 hours. Can't say enough about Link Removed

I've tried out the set-up with upright so far, and while I don't think I will ever need the second cabinet for volume, it definitely adds presence to the sound. In terms of volume, it will feedback before I even get to the added volume of the second cabinet. The true test comes tonight for this rehearsal with the hip-hop band. I can't tell you how excited I am to have two MUTEABLE channels. I'll never have to unplug either bass and can set the channel volume and EQ separately for upright and electric.

While I don't play electric that often, I'm going to get rid of my ampeg B15 and sell my contra combo without being too far in the hole. All in all I think it should work out pretty well. Thanks again for the advice.

There is a strange buzz on the initial attack in the low register only in the new M-Line cabinet. I'll play it for a couple of days and if it doesn't go away I'll send it in to get them to look at it. EA's customer service has always been top-notch as well.

I've found that on my m-line the metal handle underneath sometimes causes a bit of buzz. Usually I just lean the amp back and move the handle a bit, re-position, and the buzz is gone.
