Hey Guys,
I recently got my hands on the new Saffire Pro Firewire Interface and wanted to post a review and some recording I did.

It's my review from another forum, so mods if that's against the rules delete the post and I'll redo it for this forum.
I really like the Saffire Pro, it sounds great, the converters are awesome, and it's set up for any kind of digi in/out that you can imagine.
I was going to go the PCI/Mic Pre route but this piece of gear is really working great, and it only retails for $1000.00, I think street is around $700.00.
Anyways, check it out and if you have any questions about it, I'll try to answer them.

Your recordings sound good, although I wish the bass were up a little more. I'd like to hear some more recordings with sax and vocals when you get those complete. I have been contemplating retiring my M-Audio Delta 1010 that I have had since 1999. I am looking for something with considerably better A/D converters and have been leaning towards the RME Fireface units. The Focusrite sounds cool though, so I'll be watching this thread. Thanks for sharing your clips and review.

Hi Stretch-I am doing some sax tomorrow and will post the songs asap. I graduated from an M-box 1, and the sound quality, AD/DA conversion, BASSically everything, is better than the M-box, and I never was a ProTools fan. Thanks for listening. On another note, tech help is great with Focusrite, I had a couple of questions and they e-mailed me right away, so thumbs up!!!

Go to my myspace page for a couple of sax tunes I recoded today. "Most Wonderful Time" and "Christmas Time Is Here." We basically just flew in some prerecorded rhythm tracks and let my friend blow over a few tunes. The Saffire wokred great and the mic pres sound pretty damn good. I used an MXL V67 and went straight into the Saffire Pro.

Thanks Stretch- I'm actually pretty pleased with the outcome. I used a little compression and reverb on the sax tracks (track inserts) themselves and then used the Waves L2 on the master buss for mix down. That is all I did to the recordings. The MXL V67 is impressing more and more, I've done vox and gtr with it in the past, through my old Mbox 1, and the results have been surprisingly good. I think it's a really good time for home recording gear, the quality has skyrocketed, and the price has come down. I was going to go pci card and then a really good/expensive mic pre, but the Saffire has impressed me so much I'm sticking with it.
Anyways, I'll post some vox stuff next week.....Thanks for listening, and if f you do buy it, I'll be glad to answer any questions you have, although it's a pretty intuitive piece of gear.
