If you play the D on the 5th fret of the A string and you get a good signal then it would eliminate frequency issues in the scarlett and point to an issue with the pickup or D string.

First of all, I recorded some samples with the bass. I’d like you to listen to. It may help you to detect the problem.

The first sample: I just played CDEFGAB on each string one by one. ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])
The second one: I played the D note either on 5th fret of A string and then D string. ( for @joe grime ) ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])
The third: I played something by using A, D, and G strings. ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])
The fourth: I played A minor by using regular E, A, and D strings. ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])

To me, The D string always seems pale, weak, faint.

@DirkP Thank you for sharing the page with me. I read it. I will try to set it up by myself on the following day. Before that, I think I should buy some tools and a capo.

@themickster I wish I could. But I can not take the bass back to the store. I live in Ireland and I bought the bass from Germany. I can send the bass back to the supplier. In this case, I am afraid it takes 2-3 weeks to get it back. It is my last resort. Because I do not wanna wait more to play. I wanna learn how to play right away...

Hmmm. Just listened to the sound clips. Definitely not balanced level across strings.

• Change the battery (probably not the problem, but easiest to fix)
• Check your tone settings. It sounds really boomy on the low end. Could the problem be as simple as having low tone cranked? Play the bass with all tones flat (i.e. neutral)
• Measure the pickup heights. This is something that you could adjust yourself, but as you are new to this, you should take the bass to a shop or friend to do this.

I thought it might be something like that. Raise the low end by turning the screw at that end

I took the bass to a music store here. I had a luthier set it up. Now, it is okay. Signals are so much better.
