:D And to you as well.

On behalf of all of us here at Fodera, I would like to wish you and your families a joyous, healthy, musical holiday season and New Year. We are profoundly grateful for your support of what we do.

Kindest regards,

Jason

So, I recently sold one of my son's Fenders so that he could buy....the very first of the new Fodera NYC Empire 4-string series of basses. We were going to formally announce it at NAMM, but my TalkBass brothers and sisters deserve to know first, don't ya' think??

Anyway, I will do my best to get it out of his hands long enough so that I can shoot a few pictures and post them...

The specs...

34" scale, 21 frets
Alder body with Vintage Sunburst Finish (my son elected to NOT have a pickguard installed -- he's a bit of a Jaco fan)
1 pc. Maple Neck
Indian Rosewood Fingerboard
Fodera Vintage Single Coils -- modeled after those of a 1962 Jazz Bass
Fodera Bridge
Fodera NYC Preamp with Active Bass and Treble
Controls are Volume/Passive Tone (stack), Volume, Bass, Treble

For those of us that are four string fanatics and think that Vinny's necks are the sine qua non...this neck will not disappoint. I think that I may have finally found a Fodera four-string to take with me to some of my dive bar gigs!!!

Photos and more in-depth discussion soon!! Merry Christmas!!

Sorry that the pictures are not better, but you get the idea. I figured timeliness was better than waiting for "professional" photos...

Funny, not really sure what to call them! Larger than vintage and a bit smaller than the Medium Jumbos we use on the custom instruments.

Joey and Vinny worked on this design for a long time. Even though it is clearly a J-Bass descendant, everything about it feels and looks really well thought out. Over the past year they did many, many iterations of the NYC-4 and really just finalized the design in early Fall...

Anyway, it weighs exactly 9 pounds (right where Vinny feels that the tone / weight balance is optimal) and balances quite well with just a slight hint of neck dive on the lap and perfect balance on a strap...

As for sound...it does exactly what Joey and Vinny wanted...A Jbass with more tonal control, a wider tonal spectrum and more punch yet very natural and woody sounding. It is most certainly a Fodera.

On Monday we will be stringing up a fretless (Alder / East Indian Rosewood FB) and an Ash / Maple FB -- I cannot wait to hear them!

Jason! Do the NYC 4 have vintage frets?
