Sure..the fretless specs are as follows:

-EMPII body shape but downsized slightly
-BEEZELITE body thickness
-Walnut top and back, mahogany core and chestnut heel block
-35" 5 piece ash neck with kingwood fretboard
-Aero dual that can be tapped for either side single coil with the pan control

It sounds really warm and focused at the same time with the usual clear and strong fundamental from the neck through single cut models. Also, the extra mass may contribute to a big sound with lots of sustain. Sweet midrange "muah" which is what I wanted from all that mahogany:) For sure a world - class fretless in every way.

You'd be surprised what one can do when they prioritize;)

In all seriousness, many people blow enough money to pay for a Fodera on stupid stuff over the course of their lives. And this is even more to the point...

it doesn't take a millionaire to buy a $35k car. Think of how many Foderas you could buy with that amount.

Several.

IME it really isn't that hard, you just have to commit to it and in a lot of cases there'll probably be some other things you won't be able to do instead.

I've told this story before but comments like your always bring it to mind: I was at a rehearsal space with my 1984 Tobias hybrid 5. Another bassist there was admiring my bass and mentioned he wished he could afford one a few times. We walk outside, I put my bass in my 1992 Honda Civic Si hatchback, he walks over to his late model Lexus SC400.

If only.

I won't get into the guys who go through a string of thousand dollar basses, spending more they they ever would on a "keeper".

Re-selling your cars will generate different amount of loss ... same with different basses.

Foderas are investments. I'm focussing on brands that suit my taste as a bassist AND hold their value for years.

I wasted much more money during the first 20 years of buying, playing and re-selling medium quality basses than during the third decade with high end stuff.

Absolutely.
It's just a matter of prioritizing what is more important to one's life.
Most of my friends, colleagues think I am crazy about buying so many basses (6 basses 1 month ago, 3 now) or paying a deposit for a 8k+ for a Fodera Imperial.
I (we) know, not only Fodera, but many basses are worth in everyway and playing basses/music become a very important (or one of the most important) part of my/our life.

The guys can't measure how wonderful I feel when I play Fodera (good bass).......

After all, I think I am crazy as I've made up my mind in paying a deposit for a Fodera fretless.........:o

OMG, it is not easy to inspire GAS in me, but these last images are just INSANE. That piece of Chestnut on the Emperor is as good as I have ever seen!!! There's no more of that lying around shop!!

As for the pictures of the other NYC-4's, hopefully by the weekend....

If you could afford to make a "low monthly payment" on a 3 year car loan for a $35,000 car, then instead of getting that car, you could be your own "bank". Just buy a $10,000 car and after you've paid for it, keep putting aside the same "low monthly payment" every month until you can afford to get the Fodera. That should only take about 1 more year. You could put down a deposit and have the rest of the money saved up before the new bass is delivered.

since i'm no good with the "boudoir shots" a lot of you guys can do, here's a link to some "in action" shots taken over the last 7 years or so of me with my core basses, including the one i just received in november. (basses are grouped "thematically.")

The specs are;

Buckeye burl top and Peg
Mahogany body
26 fret
3 pc maple neck
Ebony board /abalone blocks
33 inch scale
16.5mm
Duncan Dual Coils/ Burl Covers
Pontif Pre
Black hardware
Dunlop drop

This will be my second shop built, and 4th over all. Jason has been a pleasure to work with. Reponsive, informative, articulate, he gets it. I love Martha, and Joey to death, but this is a different approach to customer service, that works.
And now the wait......
