Thndrstk6 -- You rock!!! Thanks! Also, your mock-ups just made me change my hardware specs...gold for the chestnut and Black for the Maple Burl! BTW, just an FYI and please do NOT spend any time adjusting these, but dual coil basses have three toggle switches.

I actually like it the other way around. I hate gold hardware but think it looks nice on the maple burl. To me, the black hardware matches the black lines in the chestnut....either way you're going to end up with some really beautiful instruments.

Yeah that's why I did them both with both hardware colors. I thought
that your original choice was backwards after I saw them finished. I
think it has to do with the inlays. The black hardware helps the look of
the ebony inlays and the gold hardware helps fancy up the more plain
look of the chestnut. It's a good balance. Glad I could help. Thanks for
the info on the 3 switches BTW.

I kinda agree with you too though. I like gold hardware on Foderas usually. It just seems to work.

Yeah, it's funny how you can go back and forth....I still like black on the chestnut and gold on the maple more, but I see how the other works with the inlays.

BTW, the chestnut will be significantly darker and richer looking when finished. I did not put any Shellac on that top for fear of it warping. In real life it is actually quite stunning with a fair amount of flame and color nuance...and, of course, I have to leave the truly killer Chestnut for our customers -- we only have like 4 or 5 pieces left!

I really like the piece that you chose. I've always preferred more understated woods for tops. It reminds me of the chestnut on MG's original bass. I loved the look and sound of that bass. The alder/maple/ebony/Bartolini bass....great bass.

I completely agree. I like a more solid and simple looking bass. Something that looks
tough or strong. That's why I my Fbass is only ash and maple. Simple and sleek.
