Jason, the buckeye on janek's bass, does that have some crotch grain in addition to the burl?

No, it did not come from a crotch, it is just the way we cut it -- the angle of the saw to the grain...

Jason - I love your write-up on the Fodera site:
"A gorgeous Monarch Yin Yang Deluxe with exactly the same specs as Vic's first fretted Yin Yang. This is the last year that you'll see fairly frequent appearances of Yin Yang Deluxes here in the Newborn Section. Beginning in 2012 we are limiting production to just six (6) Yin Yang Deluxes per year...
This instrument is so incredibly resonant and acoustically alive that it can easily be played without amplification when practicing in a quiet room. Wow."
Now I just have to wait until tomorrow morning![]()

Because you're not looking? Scroll up the page and have a look at both Oteil's and Janek's basses!
Those both have maple necks. A neck is different than a fingerboard.
I know there will at least be one in August!![]()
And another in December! LOL

I recently went through the process, with Jason, of getting all the details together for my monarch deluxe, including choosing a top, specs on my slapping ramp, etc. I was exceptionally impressed by his prompt, straightforward correspondence, knowledge and most of all ....class. I couldn't agree with Basswalker more that one can really sense his passion for these instruments. If anyone out there is in the market for a high-end, quality bass, and also hopes for the personalized, friendly attention, I'd highly recommend talking to Jason at Fodera.
