Fodera Club Part VII

I think you'll like it. I went there for medical school a while back ('92-'96) and really loved it; some of the best years of my life. Is this small apartment you're referring to in Harkness Hall? There's a lot of affordable housing in the area, so I suspect you'll soon have all of your basses with you...

I used to play a big club in New Haven.. Arcadia Ballroom I think it was called... Early 80's Nice town from what I remember.

I think the Arcadia Ballroom has been gone for a long, long time. All the references I looked up said that it closed years ago, unfortunately!

Angus-Don't know how you feel about this but wall hangers work really well. You wouldn't have to worry about taking up floor space or closet space.

Oh, that'll be an absolute necessity. Know any good ones that will fit a 6 string? I need to find some pads to put on the walls to protect the bodies! The basses will definitely go on the wall, though.

Thanks for the insight- I hope I like it, too. It's near to NY/real food and near(ish) to my girlfriend's family in Maryland, which is nice, but for me the most interesting thing will be experiencing the east coast academic culture. It's very different from here, and I think it's important to experience both ends of the spectrum. And they have a good plastics department!

The small apartment isn't in Harkness- it's actually in a brand new apartment complex near downtown, about a half mile from the med school. It'll have New Haven's first serious grocery store attached in August, so it will be enormously convenient. But it's small. Safe + small + convenient > spacious.

Do you know if the chinatown near New Haven is any good, climb? It's probably been a while since you've been back to New Haven, but I figured it was worth asking. I can't live without a good chinatown nearby, and I didn't get to go see it!

You don't see many monarch 6 strings. I really want a bolt on version of this bass. It will be a long long time before could ever consider ordering another fodera though. Plus I love my empII, so I'm relatively gas free.

Janek's bass?

Is that Oteil's bass?

I'm a little confused about Janek's Bass...didn't he first say that it's going to be a 6 string or 5 str. fretless to match to his actual 5 str. ?

now he has another new 5 str. ? what happens with the old one ? ;) or this one is strunged B-G ?

If my memory serves me correct, he did say he want another 5 which same as the one he is playing now.

Later on today I will be posting more information in the Newborn section, but yes the Monarch 6 IS Oteil's and the Garrison Imperial 5 IS Janek's. Both players wanted EXACT replicas of their current Foderas...Janek's is (obviously) just completed and Oteil's original came back to the shop to be measured yesterday because we will be building his early this summer.

The only change to Janek's bass was that he went with Buckeye (rather than Plastic) PUP covers...every other wood and measurement is identical when compared to the original.

Oteil's design criteria...make an EXACT copy.

During the course of less than 10 months we will have done this for Richard Bona, Oteil and Janek...pretty cool. Reason being that they all tour extensively and want to be certain that if their Fodera ever got lost or stolen they would have a back up...each of them has (unfortunately) been waiting well over three years for this to happen...it is another of the "improving Fodera" things that we are happy to be getting off of the "To-Do List." LOL.
