A question re; Anthony Jackson basses... was there a #11?
On the site it says "stay tuned for #12" which suggests that there was. Isn't the one Anthony Jackson plays at the moment #10?

In his Bass Player magazine cover story, Anthony mentioned that #11 was an attempt to return to 34" scale that didn't work out. He also mentioned that instrument was sold to someone in Japan.

In the same article, Anthony said that #10 is the instrument he currently plays and that it is a 1996 build. With all respect and consideration to the artist playing it, that bass has an incredible sound. It'll be interesting to see and hear what refinements and improvements that #12 will bring to the table.

Can anyone give me some info on how these basses play?
If is half as good as they look, then they must be out of this world.
How would I go about actually having a chance to play one? I am in the L.A. area if anybody knows any shops around.
Thanks!

The fretless Beez was for sale here recently, as part of a pair of the early Beez models. I almost bought them. It looks like a killer instrument...though I think I'd prefer it to be hollow!

I read that too somewhere, but didn't think of it as a "#" .
Do you remember if it said anything as to what was "wrong " with that bass?

Nothing was wrong with #11...it just does not sound like a 36" scale...a sound than has very much become part of AJ's remarkable voice...so he want back to #10.

As for Matt's electric-acoustic, is is hollow and really sounds like part electric, part acoustic. We have only made the one instrument for Matt and are waiting on some patents for the design before we start building more of them. If current design plans hold, we will be using some of these designs in AJ's #12...

I didn't get a chance to hear #11, but in general, I would describe the difference between a 36" B-string and a 34" as like the difference between the low-end of a Concert Grand Piano and a Baby Grand...that is a common difference that most people can relate to...

Can you describe how the 34" #11 sounded different from the 36" #10?

I'm guessing it didn't sound bad. Just different.

Thanks.
