Fodera Club Part VIII

I can't wait to hear it.

So today is the twelve month mark for my scheduled production date. I'm very excited. My friends joke that when it's delivered that they wont see me for several months because I'll lock myself in a room playing the bass. They are half right, I'm sure I'll leave my room for gigs with the bass.

One more for now:

Killer bass! Can't wait to get a fresh set of my strings on there (TI Jazz Rounds) and then tweak the setup

Could someone please tell me the difference, sonically, between the pickups with the exposed pole pieces and the ones with the full covers over them?

Our preference is to expose the pole pieces unless the player either sweats a lot or does not like the look. We feel that getting the magnets ever-so-slightly closer to the strings provides a slightly more open, nuanced tone. The difference is subtle and only noticeable via a direct before and after comparison on the same instrument...

some builders have tonewoods. Even Fodera's plexiglass has tone.

I'd say that Matt's TAS (thick a$$ bass) is about 2-3 pounds lighter than Beez's TAS fretless. Beez's fretless I think was 13 lbs.

Jason, you gonna come up with a custom case for Matt's bass?

Here's a good conversation starter: which bass player (or bass) drew you to Fodera? While I love Vic and his pretty basses (his playing ain't too shabby either, LOL) his tone never really drew me in. It wasn't until I was obsessed with Hiromi and watching Tony Grey's style of playing and hearing his tone when I was like "I definitely need to get me one of those!"

met Joey thru a local music store in brooklyn. He invited me over to the original shop and i was hooked for life. Bought number 23 on the spot and sold my Alembic series one actually back to the store i met Joey through. I will be back up to 5 when my YYS ships.
