I may have a picture of that one somewhere. I will look. It had a nice holly top on it. I regret not buying it. At the time, I could have gotten it for a song but back then I was playing 36" scale basses and didn't want to go to a 34".

Yes, I'm totally into 34s now. I have three of the baddest Foderas on the planet. If they weren't such exquisite ones I'd probably sell them and get 34's t replace them.

I went through so many of them over the years though and it took forever to find the right ones. I'll deal with the extra inch (or two as is the case with my Presentation).

Hello everyone! I've been lurking on here for a while, and I've enjoyed reading all the Fodera club posts since the very first.

Here's a photo of mine; we've been together since August 2000. It is a familiar shape, but I've never called it anything else except "Leo Smith's bass".

I've been tardy to publicly thank Team Fodera for their help in repairing the bass last July. (I can't believe it's been a whole year!) So, to Jason, Laura, Vinnie, Joey, and the rest - my heartfelt thanks!

EDIT - I mispoke earlier. I've had this intrument since 2000, not 2001... how time flies.

I was at BassGear in the UK this afternoon when their Emperor Standard arrived.

Helped to unpack it and was the first person in the country to play it. I have to say that it sounded fantastic.

Really fast attack, great 'growl' and amazingly punchy. I'm really not a 5 string player these days but the E and B strings had really nice crisp definition without ever sounding wooly.

A really outstanding bass!

When I moved from Alaska to Ohio last year, the movers managed to mess up some of my instruments. The Fodera took some kind of hit that ruined the original hard case and put a crack where the neck meets the headstock. Pushing back on the headstock from the FB side opened up the crack slightly, and the crack was right under the fingerboard and deepest on the bass side.

It wasn't a horrible thing, but my heart sank when I saw the damage. An email to Fodera elicits a quick call back from Jason to discuss options. The mover's insurance company covered the repair and a new case, of course.

(The URB was a different story. Its scroll / headstock was completely knocked off, which warranted a complete neck graft and other touch up work to the tune of $10k, also covered by the mover's insurance.)

Uuugh! I'd be furious! Insurance is great, but still, someone carelessly broke your instruments. Seems disrespectful to me.

I have the baddest Emperor Elite five on the planet! :hyper: It has the best of the best Chestnut I've ever seen and a beautiful birdseye board. I'll find a pic and post it.

Abalone inlays; Northern Ash body; Alder heel; 35"; Single coils; Chestnut ramp

EDIT... Found one.
