two from the far left are from 85, original owner; a couple are used.

suffice it to say that i've been extremely fortunate and in the right place at the right time.

zebra' two maple, one ebony. modified . . . (horrors!)

i have them set up fordifferent things/projects:

fretted/fretless pair: round wound strings (B to C)

fretted/fretless pair: flatwound strings (B to C)

fretted/fretless pair: round wound strings (tuned D to Eb)

fretted: flats (A to Bb)

fretted: rounds 12-string

tou cansee what i'mmissing.

Ahhh, a Kinski fan! Cool. Now he was the ultimate nosferatu, didn't need much time in the make-up chair. Hey, if you hit the lotto Isabel Adjani gets her own bass. Man, she has the most kissable pout ever..Ooops, getting carried away... Oh yes and your pedals!!

So you go for input line level. Wow, all those ped's and you don't experience any signal loss or I guess it's not enough to worry about?
I have a few foot peds and the majority of my gigs tend to be the 7 bands thing with a 10minute changeover, any longer and it comes off your set time; so alot of guy's try to gear share (not me.. sorry) to cut down on time. Not having a pedal board, I'd often go without any effects. So how long do you need to set-up your rig?

PS: If I ever come across a cool Adjani sticker it's yours..

nosferatu is there because a friend found the sticker at a festival in germany and knew i'd like it as we're both klaus fans. seemed perfect. if i win the lottery, i'll get a fretless 12 and it gets a big smiley face.

pairs of basses have themes.

yeah, i dig the 12 max. i'm generally not a fan of effects loops, and way i do stuff isn't good for them. i just go bass through the effects into the amp.

besides, i'm kind of a dope when it comes to that stuff ;-).

sweet. isabel as lucy harken sticker.

klaus and isabel = best blood sucking scene ever ;-) ( really, check it out!)

the prob is signal loss, but it is what it is. treu bypess is good and i use george l's, which do make a difference, imho. my pickups are kinda hot; albeit, passive.

some stuff is no setup/no efx. i judge on how long and what i need to do. everything is different, ya know? and then i try to move really quickly.

That new "Twighlight" trilogy stuff is utter pooh!! kids (of age) need to check-out the real McCoy and Kinski was the real deal, I never saw him as anything else after "Nosferatu the Vamp." Mmmmm that scene, if I were Klaus I'd demand re-take after re-take!.;)

Yeah, your pick-ups really deserve their own thread, at some point I'm going to slap on some cans & listen retrospectively to your discography, it's a pup thing! Btw Sir you've got a stunning collection and I'm going to take a leaf from your book and try the sticking an Allen key on the back of the headstock, I can never remember where I put the bloody thing.

An important note...these were originally recorded at 96k to retain as much of the sonic information as possible from the instruments. They were then down-sampled to 44.1k (CD "quality") to make the files more reasonably sized so that they could be easily downloaded and burned to a CD. They are meant to be listened to on the best audio equipment you have available to you...

A HUGE thanks to Matt Garrison for recording these for us. As you already know, he's as amazing a person as he is a player!!

I can definitely hear differences between the bolt-on and the neck-through. To me, the bolt-on sounds a little more open, especially on the B and E strings, while the neck-through is slightly refined down low, and maybe a little compressed. Also, as the folklore has it, the neck-through sure seems like it has greater sustain.

I'm glad to hear these differences, because that's what I'm going for in my new bolt-on Viceroy shape. I'm looking for something a little less reserved than my Emperor, and I think the wood choices and neck joint will give me the difference I'm looking for.

I'll have to get back to you on the dovetail, but it sounds like it falls somewhere between the other two, with characteristics of each.

If I rephrase it in the other way, perhaps the dovetail lacks the advantages of the other two, or at least not as evident?

By the way, to my ears the bolt-on sounds the best for slap licks.
