Took me more than 2 minutes on the first one - had to figure out a way to pull them without using a hammer or sawzall :D

I swapped all three of my basses from the 1.8K to 1K mid setting. Perfect.

I believe that Tony's six bass was 16.5 mm spacing but now he has changed the bridge to a Fodera made. Anyone know if that is a 17.5 mm or Fodera have made a 16.5 Fodera bridge?

Tony's Foderas have always been 17.5mm. We jst started making our own 17.5mm bridge roughly 2 years ago...

No. There would be a lot of extra space on either side of the FB...

We really do not recommend changing the bridge spacing from what the instrument was originally built for. It CAN be done, but the instrument never quite feels / looks right...

I am positive. I am the person that took the old one off and replaced it with the new bridge. While it is possible (but not ideal) to go from a 17.5mm bridge to a 16.5mm bridge on the same instrument, you could never go from a 16.5mm to a 17.5mm as there would not be enough space at the edges of the FB for the strings...

I would look through the Newborns and filter for all the various walnut tops and just drool and yours was one out of maybe three that I'd use as a reference. I wanted to figure what types of hardware (Black or Gold) looked best with various coloured Walnut and your EmpII6 almost swayed me towards gold. Gold hardware looks perfect on yours but wasn't sure if it'd would work with my top.

+1 regarding the dots. ;)

that being said, taking out highs and boosting lows can get pretty dubwise.

i actually have a 6 with carvin (ghs, i think) flats on 'em that i waxed to deaden. those sound way more motown-ish to me. another benefit is that these are cheaper than some strings, so you won't be out too much if you hate 'em. i like 'em better than i did the la bellas or d'addario sets that i tried in the 90s.

dunno, exactly how you hear this stuff, so it's hard to say if either would fit for you.

I know some Carvin strings are made by LaBella, if that's true for the flats then they ought to sound very Motownish :)

OK, this might be random and boring, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway,...

A couple hundred years ago the word for a "butterfly" was actually "flutter-by", which makes a lot more sense for an insect that "flutters by" and has nothing to do with butter. At some point English speakers started inverting the syllables (switching the "b" and "f") and now we have butterflies on our headstocks instead of flutterbies.

Just a little English (and Fodera) language history for you!

My bass, got here a bit over a week ago. Plays great, still trying to get used to it coming from a 6 string ken smith and a p bass. They have very different feels and the fodera is my favorite (although the p bass has its place). I will try to post one of my playing it soon.

I gotta say I thought the instrument was too expensive but you really get what you pay for with these instruments. Not only does it sound beautiful but it makes me want to play more, makes me want to practice more and I have a hard time putting the fodera away. Its a masterpiece!
Thanks Fodera! I will be enjoying this bass for many many years.

thanks! are you getting a MG too? It will be worth it, I have played several foderas from friends and although all different, not one was bad. Tone varies on your specs but the playability is always there.
