Adrowal... I have actually no clue! Im not so technical in that way - it has some arch but not that much. It just hit my sweetspot! But dont you think its pretty much fodera standard?

IMHO, the writing is on the wall, fair warning. Do it now, so you're safe when the crap finally does hit the fan someday. Bobby is definitely doing the right thing!!

I don't see things simplifying as time goes on... only getting even more complicated, and supported by technology as needed to make enforcement that's currently impractical become practical.

And when that happens, going by historical example here, it'll be driven/regulated by a lot of stupid short-sited and ignorant policy, and you will have little or no reasonable way to deal with it.

Am I a totally cynical curmudgeon on this matter? Hell yes. Do I have a good reason to be? Based on history, I think so. :(

I agree with everything said here. My point was that perhaps they're not actively searching for these woods like we think they are? I just haven't heard about anyone getting busted since the Gibson thing....and that was specifically targeted. But obviously if I was afraid of getting busted I wouldn't do it. I'd just love to hear at least one person's experience who got busted. Might scare some sense into me....:bawl:

I'm absolutely sure you're correct, and I too smell a rat on the whole Gibson thing, BUT, I just don't trust things to persist. I think a few stories actually have surfaced, however... but it may be more instrument builder currently. I can't remember, but I think maybe Roger had some issues in recent years, which is a big part of why he officially doesn't ship Brazilian out of the US anymore.

Ive owned both the mgs and two customs. Radius was the same on them all.

That bass looks awesome. You got a 17.5mm spacing on it? That top is crazy.

Thanks to all of you who had kind words to say about my Chestnut Imperial :p Yes, it is a 17.5mm spacing, and now that I have it in my hands, I am SOOOOOO happy I went with that spacing, let me tell you!!

This bass is an absolute work of art! I can just stare at it, much less play it! The top is captured perfectly in the photo, but the Braz fretboard is even more beautiful in person. Thank you for finding and selecting it for me, Jason!

But, on to the tones...it is a VERY warm bass, which is EXACTLY what it was supposed to be. With the alder/walnut, 60s spacing on the pickups, and the flat wounds, it was supposed to, in my mind, be a 60s thumper with a Fodera flair, and it is exactly that. The dual coils help keep the tones a little lighter if I want it to do that; I don't think that I'd like a P/J set of pickups in this particular bass. All I can say is that it's what I was dreaming of, and now it's here!!!! WOW!

I had a question about the Mike Pope preamp in Fodera basses. I was looking at the web site under the bass care. The section on the preamp jumpers is where I'm confused. In the section that talks about the switch board, what are the Jumpers for bass frequency, has anyone out there made these modifications to their basses or did you leave it with the factory settings? Any light that you can shed on this would be great.

Nostatic has changed the settings on his circuit board, so talk to him...I don't think I have the fortitude to do it myself! If I recall correclty, Robin Ruscio may also have done the dipswitch change.

I changed the jumpers for the mid frequency. I find the "high" setting to be too high (from the factory it seems that it is set at "low" and "high". I changed it to "low" and "medium". I followed the instructions on the web site. Main trick is the jumpers are really small so tweezers or hemostats would be a good thing.

Enjoy the bass Curt. I still think the rosewood fingerboard is the key to "warm". And I'm with you on the 17.5mm spacing on a 5'er.
