Nope.... Finally getting to plug in my brand new bass at Fodera and dazzle Vinnie, Joey and Jason with my 1-4-5 driving 8th note virtuoso display? THATS winning.
P.s. I wonder if Fodera has actually refused to let a buyer take a fully paid for bass home after hearing him/her play? If so, a refund may be in order when I show up on the 25th.
Maybe just alternating open B and E notes. I don't need to hear anything else if those 2 notes resonate and bloom tonally to my satisfaction.
After playing bass for almost 30 years, I realized early on that there is always someone out there better than me. I gave up trying to outdo all other bassists before I finished college.
Nowadays, if I keep getting paid to make noise and there aren't people in the crowd pointing at me and laughing, I win.
Actually, at a gig last week a couple of people playfully made fun of my lime green Pumas... but not my playing.

With Ash, Mahogany and Korina we have boards that are wide enough for one-piece bodies. With Alder and Walnut we generally do not get material that is wide enough for one-piece bodies.

Nope, everyone here gets treated the same whether they are a virtuoso or...me! I remember freaking out the night before I went to Fodera the first time. Although I am quite solid in a band setting, bass was never a "lead instrument" to me and thus my "demo licks" repertoire blows! The way that I audition a new bass has to be the most boring, non-impressive thing anyone has ever seen. Heck, I start with the thing unplugged...

Just curious. Has anyone ever waited for their build come in and tried it and decided it wasn't for them?
I know I am probably late to the party on this one but I didn't know Hadrien Feraud played a Fodera too. Only seen him with KS. I just love his tone on this vid.
What is the story with this Fodera? Does he have a relationship with the company too?

That's a shame as it would be alder I'd be interested in.
I have two one piece alder bodied instruments and am just so used to it - The kind of used to it that for me means 'stick with it.( well as far as I can see at the moment anyways)

Since I have been here (October of 2009), we have only had one customer that disliked their custom build enough that we took it back and are building another. About 3-5% of the time they need minor set-up / preamp tweaks to get them dialed-in to the customer's liking, rarely we need to do something a little more radical (e.g. re-carving a neck) and the balance of the time folks seem quite happy.

actually, one might say this is a really, really good way to start when auditioning a bass.
I would like to know that as well. He sounds great on any bass but I like the tone on his Holly Imperial II.
Probably been discussed before but has Fodera ever considered radius-ing the pickup covers to match the neck radius? Are the ramps radiused? Is radiused a word?
Most ramps are radiused but I ordered mine flat to match the pickups. I guess the PU are not radiused then....

The pickup covers aren't radiused but the poles pieces are staggered to match the neck radius.
So he had to drop the Fodera for his sponsor? Such a great tone to walk away from though his Smith sounds great too but just different.
