It's not a Tobias. It's a custom Nordstrand.
Kerry built it back when he was building customs.
It's Carey, and I meant that the woods he chose give the back of the neck a very Tobias look. It looks really cool!
I believe he's still building customs. I've played a few of his recent builds. Just gorgeous killer basses.
Christian, how easily do you move back-and-forth between different string spacings? Would you rather they were all one spacing or is it not a big deal?
Maybe some people just prefer the vibe of the standard, or don't need the complexity of the custom. I'd probably stick with the standard preamp if I ever ordered a custom (which I don't think I would).
I mean, obviously Christian's feedback will be more valuable than mine, but fwiw I manage to switch between different string spacing and scale lengths (and even multiscale/standard) without much issue at all. Lately I've been bouncing between my Fodera Monarch 4 and Dingwall ABZ 5 for different projects, sometimes even within the same day, and I haven't had any trouble adjusting back and forth, really.
Not really a issue for me. Also play a Rob Allen 5 string and a W&T 5 which both a 17.5 mm. However my MG mini will be 16.5 mm which I might prefer
