"For all intensive purposes..."

Some people only know about a saw that cuts wood. My brother-in-law has a masters degree and judges people based on their level of education. He says things like "I seen your friend yesterday."
He also loves the city of Chicago and thought about moving there. When he talks about that city he uses the CH sound like in the word Chicken. He says Cheecago. Is there anyone from Chicago here? I have always heard it as Shicago. Is that correct?

Most apartments in Shicago have laundry shoots installed...

My daughter says "Speak it up. Please." when she can't hear her cartoons.

I think it is because we always tell her to "speak up" when she answers a question. She is a bit shy.

And I have heard more than once "Chicargo" You know, in Illinoissssss..

My wife has her own language that I sometimes prefer to English. I use some of her terms here. Like "Pain in the patchoukie." When she was young she drove a Morris Minor. She called that car a Measley Minor. A small bump on your skin is a lumpey dookey. When she want so compliment something I have done she says "You've done yourself in." She knows what she is saying and we still laugh at that one.
