Ha! No, that was my first dog Moma that did that

I've found that Spiros seem to brighten up whenever I've put them back on my bass. Is that something that bothes you at all when using your chadwick? Does it go away after a while?
I can control Spiros pretty well and seem to be able to get the sound I want from them, I would welcome them being a bit brighter because it means more clarity in the ensemble, I have actually found them pretty stable with the Chadwick. I recently put a solo A back on after a Weich A on my main bass, and yeah, it was nice and bright but that was what I was after.
Not to hijack the thread, however, Spiros are great string for those of us who play in a variety of settings a lot of sounds are possible with them - and in this case I am talking just basic pizz and arco sounds. So, you play different ways to pull out the different sounds. I can play in a more dark way with Spiros and push the brightness when I need it.

If you have a standard unchanging sound with a uniform technique that is when a certain string might match what you are trying to do.
