For you old folks!

I turned 58 last week. I'd say the two biggest lessons I've learned are: 1) Trust you gut instinct. Never mind what your head or your heart is telling you, that gut feeling will never let you down. 2) The ones with the biggest mouths are the ones that are most afraid. If I would have learned those two lessons much earlier in life I believe I could have accomplished more and would have been much further ahead. Would have avoided a lot of setbacks if I would have listened to my gut and not let others sway me.

It's a long story as to why it took me so long to learn these simple things and I'm not going to bore you with it. Guess you'd have to walk in these shoes for a few miles to understand.

In a nutshell.....don't be afraid to learn, don't be afraid to admit when you're wrong and above all, hold your ground when you know you're right.

I mentally pronounce Kwesi's username in George Jefferson-ese: (K)Weezy! :hmm:/:cool:/:ninja:/:)
Sorry, born in the 60's...

You wouldn't be the first, lol. I have had teacher regularly pronounce my name as "queasy" when going down the roll for as long as I can remember! Besides that I've been know to go by "Weezy" and "K. Weezy" though neither was my idea, lol.

I mean it w/all due respect. As an old guy, I've seen some change. Norman Lear was dope. I appreciate your taking it(my comment)well, & dig your contributions here.
Edit: WHERE the F did my George go?!?

Thanks, man! Same goes to you! At this point I just chuckle a bit when I hear my name mispronounced partly because of the dozens of ways people mispronounce it and partly because I mispronounce it myself regularly, lol!

Properly, it sounds like "quest" with an "i" instead of a "t." But when I tell other people how to say it I say "Qway-see" which is usually how I say it myself. I'm probably to blame for some of the confusion about how I pronounce my name since I alternate, lol :D. The same goes for my last name .

You're pic seems to be playing Hide n' Seek. Sometimes it's there, some times it isn't. The pic knows how to have a good time.

The name thing, ah yes... as a guy who grew up with the name Sky (my own grandfather used to tease me by calling me Earth), and am now married to an Annika (but not pronounced like the golfer), and father to children named Shoki and Cyan, I know all about it!

I have a friend named Esi (sounds like "S E"), and I figured Kwesi was pronounced somewhat along the same lines ... seems I was right.

sounds like you have a damon runyon fan in the family....guys and dolls was based on one of his stories and the "sky" is the lead role

obviously someone needs to..... maybe you place more value on relationship advice from someone who has never been in one than i do,:rollno:....but i tend to trust experience .....

C'mon, we iz just havin a lil fun, lol. But, on that particular note, I know plenty of people that have been in a quite a few relationships and still don't seem to know the first thing about them. In fact, some even come to me for relationship advice, go figure, lol.

Those are some cool names ! Have you changed you name or do you still go by Sky?

No never changed it ... the odd name thing is a bit of a tradition - almost everyone on my mom's side (her siblings and most of my cousins) are named after trees.

At this point it's just pretty ordinary to me, sometimes I forget how strange our collection of names must seem to some people!

Edit: (plus it didn't hurt having parents who grew up in the 60s)
