I've been keeping an eye on the local FB marketplace for a cheap guitar to use for some of my songwriting and saw this one - so I gave into my weakness and got it.

The guy assembles guitars (and basses) himself from parts - the pickups are from Soultone who are a small outfit here doing various guitar pickups. The builder said he had these done to sound similar to Nile Rodgers' Strat sound - if it's good enough for Nile then it's definitely good enough for me.

Played it for a while last night and it sounds and feels pretty good.

I'll do some bass practicing later as penance.

Yes I think he did a nice job - the neck pocket is a bit bigger than the neck but he's set it well and it seems pretty solid.

He had a PJ he'd made that he asked me to try out as a bass player - he's a guitar player but his wife wants to start playing bass and he wanted feedback on the bass. It was well done too and I told him that it was something that I'd play so should work fine for his wife.

I know there are lots of guitar players here but it still feels wrong .
