Forgotten 70's Rock Bands

Of course 13th Floor Elevator was a 60's rock band as where the Chambers Brothers. The most obscure band I liked was Mind Garage, probably the most obscure 60's band to appear on national t.v.
The Tubes, who were bringing you live music video concepts onstage before the TV format devolved into self-parody. Some great songs from their A&M 70's heyday include "What Do You Want From Life," "Turn Me On," "Mondo Bondage," "Smoke (La Vie En Fumer)," and the immortal, "White Punks On Dope."
Honorable mention to the early incarnations of Todd Rundgren's Utopia, as well.

Wow, this thread is bringing back memories of my youth. I had to look up many of these bands that i had forgotten about. My addition to this list is Rory Gallager. I loved playing oodles of his songs in cover bands. Such as Bad Penny, Philby, Follow Me, Shdowplay, Big Guns, and Brute Force and Ignorance to name a few.

Definitely another great one there. Actually his bassist Gerry McAvoy was a huge influence in my playing. Made me appreciate the tone of flatwound strings when used on a P-Bass. And his playing aided me greatly when playing in a three piece rock setting. That, and he always had a big old grin on his face when he was playing with Rory.

Man I skipped them on purpose cause I was actually glad they were forgotten. My cousin had their album and played it so much I wanted to break her stereo.
