Forgotten 70's Rock Bands

Three of my favorite bands from the 70's

Pages (Richard Page & Steve George - precursor to Mr. Mister - with the under-rated Jerry Manfredi, and later, Neil Stubenhaus on bass)

and a couple of Brit bands...
Rare Bird (A progressive rock band featuring Steve Gould on Bass & Vocals)
Sutherland Brothers & Quiver (who opened for Elton John on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Tour)

Ok, I'll go ahead and say that I was born in 1988 :hiding:. Read no further if that matters to you.

However, some of my favorite bands would fall into this category:
Glass Harp - saw Phil Keaggy live when I was really young, inspired me to get into music, seen him again a few times sense then, and he never fails to impress
Poco - I love Timothy B. Schmit
The Flying Burrito Brothers
Mother's Finest - I'm from Atlanta, but what can I say? They're great!

They have been mentioned on this thread, but I agree about Argus. I bought it new and still listen to it every month. (Not the same copy, of course!) "Throw Down the Sword" from that album is a timeless commentary on the cost and futility of war. "To walk the road, the load I have to carry....a journey's end, a wounded soul."

Now for a bit of a mystery.
I have a song I recorded from either a K-Tel or Ranco record, originaly recorded from vinyl to cassette, then converted to mp3. I have no clue as to who did it, or the actual title. I think it's from the mid - late 70's
The chorus goes:
"And the rain keeps falling from the clouds in the Canada sky,
And they found it together but they never knew the reason why,
Some fool with a gun shot the sun from the Canada....sky."
Any clue?
This sort of fits, cause I forgot them. hehe.

I've read every post and unless I just overlooked them, i didn't see either of these mentioned. Both were huge influences on my playing.

Grand Funk Railroad - I'm always striving for the Mel Schacher tone.

Santana - Dave Brown had those basic lines that supported all that precussion and Carlos' noodling.

Other mentions; Robin Trower - James Dewar's lines are burned into my head.

The Who - they played a little in the 70's......

Elvin Bishop - just fun stuff.

Oh yeah, another band that played a little bit in the 70's; ZZ Top
