The new Saudi track looks tight. During one of today's practice sessions, Sky pit reporter Ted Kravitz posed the question to his broadcasting team if the track felt like a Formula E track.
While the others poo-poo'd that idea, I think Ted was spot-on.
Qualifying and pit strategy will be everything this weekend.

That was something else. All that drama and then Lewis walks away by 8-ish seconds? I won’t watch that one twice.
Glad it will be decided in the last race and glad neither DNF’d, but that was one ugly race.
In my humble opinion, that is a track designed for qualifying, not racing.
A few thoughts on today's race...
1. Under the red flag, teams shouldn't be allowed to work on the vehicles. This is standard in most forms of racing I've watched during my life.
2. When re-arranging cars mid-race, I wonder if the stewards can simultaneously deliver those messages to the teams involved. It would appear that today's message (for Max to give the lead back to Lewis) was first relayed to Red Bull... and then delivered to Mercedes. This is dangerous. Someone could've gotten hurt today.
3. Max is so talented... but wow, that guy can drive like a jerk. Martin Brundle summed it up best at the conclusion of the weekend's events when he said, "Max needs to re-evaluate his standards... because tonight was too much." It's too bad Max doesn't drive for someone more cool-headed and not someone that whines and moans anytime he's within six inches of a microphone and throws fuel onto every fire he can. Max needs to find himself a Phil Jackson.
If there are no collisions or BS antics by the stewards at Abu Dhabi, Mercedes will win the driver's title next Sunday. Mercedes currently has the faster (not to mention durable) car and with both of their drivers running up front, they can move around on the chess board at will.
The season finalé is going to be wild. Can't wait!

My thoughts, as well. That track needs some readjusting to make it more race-friendly. For being touted as the fastest street circuit, it is way too narrow in most places, as evidenced today.
Yeah, there was some of that in today's race, but they don't ever back down on any erroneous decisions on their part.

I'll be happy if Lewis gets the championship this year. Normally, I don't like it when anybody is as dominant as he has been, but for him, I'll make an exception. Max just needs to cool down his head. I'll be really unhappy if there's some kind of shunt next weekend that has an effect on the outcome. With Max involved, it wouldn't surprise me, though.
The series will lose a lot of fun after Sunday. Call him a grump, but that guy is one of the great personalities of the sport and the only guy on the grid who's cut from the old cloth of Formula 1 drivers.

Max and the Red Bull team were forced to put on the softs in qually today (something they didn't want)... and with the stickier tires, they then used the tow to grab the pole. Should be interesting to see how strategy plays out tomorrow.
Make no mistake -- Mercedes still has the faster cars, especially at the revised Abu Dhabi circuit. I like that track now!
Lando rolls off 3rd... Tsunoda starts 8th... the newly tuned Ferraris both in the top-10... oughta be interesting!
Will be interested to see if Alonso's gripe on Ricciardo's moves in Q2 results in those guys getting re-arranged on the grid... although something makes me think the grid is locked.
I won't be waking up early to watch... will catch everything on DVR in the a.m.
