Formula 1/F1/Formula One

NANDOOOOOOOOO AND ALPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Alonso is 40... ha! How fantastic is that? I love it. But yes, especially impressive when you think that Alonso and Ocon are the only guys out there with the Renault engine (less data).

8 points now separates Lewis and Max. Can Mercedes pull this off? I repeat what I wrote last week -- what happens if Max or Lewis finish off the podium or out of the points entirely? What say you?
I’d hate to see the championship decided by a mechanical DNF, any DNF really, unless it was caused by the victim’s stupidity.
Hoping for two good, clean races.

The penalties for Max and Bottas were a bit excessive this weekend, especially when you consider everyone was coming into a high-speed portion of the track and looking over to the right at Gasly's car... not at the rogue flagman on the left. C'mon, stewards.

Thankfully, that little charade didn't have a big effect on the race.

Points for fastest lap is a nonsense. Needs to be dropped.

Come on Lewis!
The way he's driving and the level of determination he has, he is earning it. It would be awful if a DNF or something else that's not just clean racing had an influence on the outcome of the season. I want to see him win another championship. Then he and Valentino Rossi can take over endurance cars or rally cars or something.

I'm not onboard with sprint qualifying (that's just a gimmick that could cause more work for the mechanics in the event of a Saturday accident).

But the extra point for fastest lap is something I like. Although it's a modest reward, the title-contending teams are biting on and utilizing it. Hey, it's a low-risk addition to the rulebook that gives us geeks at home a little something else to keep an eye on.

How 'bout a point for pole position?

And how 'bout doing away with the tire warmers? I say let those guys get out there and slip and slide until the tires get up to temperature.

I like fastest lap getting a point too.

I do like that aspect of NASCAR, no tire warmers. It's fun seeing who really gets it on the way into the pits and the way out on cold tires. They sometimes will compare in / out laps in NASCAR to show how the driver gained / lost so much time. It really can he a substantial difference. Some drivers struggle until the tires are up to Temps.

I dont ever see them doing away with the tire warmers though. F1 is all about innovation and tech. the tire warmers are just all part of the style of the league.

Maybe somewhat OT, but the 2022 ROC this is going to be running on a frozen body of water this time: Vettel and Schumacher reunited for 2022 Race of Champions

It looks to be a very cool mix of racers this year (as usual), with Jimmie Johnson and Travis Pastrana making up the US contingent.
