Just picked up a Squier VM Jaguar Short Scale. The deals are out there if you are patient and your better half doesn't understand the need for another bass.
From My daily FB Market Place reviews I found a red ( must have color) VM jaguar, like new with a gator case, strap, stand and a lil Peavy 10w amp for $200.
Due to back surgeries & arthritis my research on here suggested short scales. I thank those that suggested these.
I assume like most of you one was not enough. Most of the VM Jag's I saw on sites were $350 + then tack on ridiculous shipping. So while on the hunt I first bought an Epi Violia $125 w/case and a 80 mile road trip. As per suggestions I had my guitar guy put on La Bella White Nylon strings. Amazingly easy on the hands huge sound improvement.
Yeah you guessed right hunting proved to be to good. In a multi guitar buy from a desperate seller I got a Hofner Ignition, back to my luither same strings, I love the weight and playability, so when I can afford a divorce a real deal Hofner is in sight.
But I digress, The VM Jag is a 2018 the guy bought for his wife who found playing bass was not her thing. It's in perfect condition. I have been following the Squier VM Jag SS Club for some time. ( maybe I should join??)
For the time being it will be played through a Fender Rumble 40. If the stars aling a vintage tube bass amp will appear.
My questions I know La Bella makes the 760T-S for this bass in 60-70-94-115 @ 32", I would prefer the 760THBB in 50-65-80-100, (I know a little OCD) would the 34" THBB'S work with out creating any problems, anyone tried it?
There has been a lot of talk concerning the jazz pickup, I agree it's not the best. I'm thinking replacement, maybe a Quarter pounder. Thoughts? Or is it worth it to replace both pickup, install new pots and a cap change.
Any other modifications you have been satisfied with that I should consider?
Yes, I have read and reread the myriads of posts. TMI. I have CRS and would appreciate short concise conclusions. As always thanks.
As a side note my luither now recommends these strings to all his bass players. TB gets the credit.
