If you are serious about this, you HAVE to check out Sandberg basses. Basically a European (German)...

Yeah, that's the one drawback. I'm in Canada, so even the American models cost me 50% more. However, I really like the look of the Sandbergs. Cheers.

I want a Mike Lull soooo bad. There was one here a few months ago, a spalted maple jazz, that was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, but I have to slowly save up for my dream bass. Yup, reality. Poopy, poopy reality.

They will make you a J neck with 24 frets. Buy a beautiful body that you like, a neck that you like, and put whatever pickups you want in it. And whatever tuners and bridge you like. Get exactly what you want, instead of what some manufacturer thinks is nice.

Or give up on having 24 frets, find a nice, used Fender American Standard Jazz in the TB Classifieds and save yourself some money.

I only have about $1K in this. It is an Allparts fretless neck, though, which is still great quality. And less expensive. But, not 24 frets. Seymour Duncan pickups. Sounds great. Plays great. Feels great. Looks great.

You have a Pino Paladino model?!! Oh man, now that's my dream bass. Either that or a Pedulla Pentabuzz, or a Mike Lull J. Good on ya! What a smokin' hot bass. Of course I'd have to get the fretted version.

Someone beat me the Lull. Their stock J is not 24 frets, but they make them, and they are just fantastic basses.

It was for me to. The neck on the Pino's are just magical. I absolutely adore that bass. Just the most organic sounding bass I have ever played.

My only worry is that the lower cut away is too far back. I prefer bases that have a lower cut away that is moved forward, so that the base since further back and plays more like a short scale. See the Pedulla Pentabuzz or the Ibanez Grooveline for examples.

Nice, but I really prefer two standard jazz pickups. Thst way I can swap them out with DiMarzio Model-J's if I want.

weren't there 2 different Fender Jazz 24 models ... a more expensive ' deluxe ' model ... and the less expensive ' Jazz 24 ' ..? maybe 1 was USA the other MIK .. i would think the Bassline pup in the Jazz 24 would work fine if run passive ... my passive J is VTVT ... you could use the extra switch hole for a series/parallel switch .?
