Just the mere fact that you can play and sing at the same time puts you on a different planet than me. I can't even breath and play at the same time.

I haven't played a G&L in years. I'll have to give them another try. Thanks.

I'm a novice noodler. I play for fun and just noodle on my bass making up songs and practicing scales n modes n stuff. I enjoy a well tailored bass, and want one that's super comfy and easy to play, and that sounds good. I don't ever plan on making money at it, but playing in a band again would be fun, if that ever happens again. The 24th fret is just topping.

LOL Now that's funny! And G&L is making some real great stuff man! They are known for their MFD pickups as on the L2000, SB-2, ASAT, and L1500. But I much like their vintage style instruments with their Alnico pups, such as the JB and LB-100. They are their takes on the jazz bass and precision bass, respectively. Within the next few weeks they will be releasing a 5 string JB! If you see one in the store, I recommend giving it a try. Cheers!

When checking out the G&Ls, keep in mind you can get a BUNCH of different options, such as:
- Lightweight Empress wood bodies
- "K" switching in the L2000/L2500, which is a coil tap for the big MFD humbuckers (great single coil tones!)
- Narrow "J" type necks to big, fat, weapon-sized necks
- Neck binding
- Body binding
- Blocks, dots, none at all
- Stainless steel or nickel frets of various sizes
- Fingerboard radius choice
- Killer finishes!

You get the idea ;)

Oh, and if you are into the 5-string thing, the G&L JB 5-string has hit the stores already!

Realistically, if the body is shaped like a traditional P or J, you're probably not going to really be able to reach those last couple of frets. So, you should probably either look for a 20 or 21 fret instrument or be looking for a non-traditional body style custom instrument and put J electronics in it.

Yeah, I went to the guitar store yesterday and played a bunch. The Ibanez SR's were the best for reaching those upper frets.
