I finally took some time to assemble all of the parts that I have been gathering to build this: A Fender 51' reissue neck, Fender Mike Dirnt body, S.D.quarter pounder P-pickup & other bits & pieces.

I was planning to put a B.A.II on it when I realized that I had a brand new B.A. III on hand. I went ahead and drilled the body for the string thru bridge & put the whole thing together in a day.

The tortise (Hah!) pickguard material came from Grizzly; it was cheap & when I got it, I saw why...probably the worst tortise print that I have ever saw. What the heck, this bass is a player, not a beauty queen! I cut out the pickguard & beveled it. When I was done, It looked awful; there was this huge, bright white outline on the pickguard! I then sprayed the pickguard with some antique lacquer...it came out a little too yellow, but it will do:

The bass plays & sounds incredible. It was nice to take some time out & build myself a toy for a change.

Thanks, I do like the overall look. I made the pickguard as a one off. I need to make a template (like I normally do) so I can make another one on my pin router.

I will most likely make another pickguard with some better looking material, but this one is growing on me...It's "Bulldog" ugly!

Looks pretty good from stage distance.

Once again, The bass plays & sounds great...It has the sound that is in my head.
