FREE THE TONE BASS BLASTER PEDAL

I've had my eyes on this pedal for quite a while now and on a recent trip to Moscow I managed to get hold on one. It wasn't cheap but it was definitely worth it! Really warm and goes from almost nothing to full out distortion. What a great pedal!

Really touch sensitive and versatile! I'm still in the honey moon but as of now I would put it on my top 5 list. I probably own about 50 OD/Dist/Fuzz-pedals and this one is up there with my MBD2 and COG 66. I've got a BSRI SKR on its way too that I'm really eager to try out.

I got a Bass Blaster BB-2 today. It's hands-down the best overdrive pedal I've ever used; and I've owned around a dozen really good ones before. I, like many others, have spent a lot of time and money, trying to find the overdrive sound that's in my head. A few pedals have come close (Grizzly, Pork Loin), but the BB-2 is the first one that has nailed that sound I've been looking for.

Currently interested in this pedal, but very scarce info on internet. It is an expensive pedal though, so it is to be somewhat expected.
Are you all still happy with yours?

I've been thinking about using it in lieu of my faithful Xotic BB preamp bass. The Xotic work pretty fine but I've recently felt like it lacked somewhat definition in the low end (I use very high gain settings, which doesn't help)

From my understanding, the Bass Blaster would be kind of similar in the spirit but with a garanteed body/low definition ? Would it still have the mids articulation/agressivity of the Xotic BB (the video on youtube sound like there was some mid scope ? )

I've been using one for several years. It's my preferred low to medium gain pedal for solo home practice.

I fact, I just bought a second bass blaster last week. They're on sale at Rogue Guitar Shop. I've never seen them on sale before. It's going to go on my board at the rehearsal space.

My only complaint with the Bass Blaster is it stacks kind of weird with my fuzz pedals. It can sound a tad muffled or dull. But I really love it on its own.

I've never played an Xotic bb. If you prefer playing at high gain, I would recommend a Damnation Audio MBD-1 (or MBD-2). The MBD offers a ridiculous amount of control over the low end and does any amount of gain exceptionally well. Stacks with my fuzzes well too.

Hmmmm...Stacking is important in my setup. Does is mess with the Fuzz when placed before or after in the chain ?

I place my fuzz after overdrive. I'm not sure it would be noticeable the other way around.

It's not horrible by any means, it's just not the tone I've come to expect when I engage the fuzz.

The bass blaster is always on for me. I can adjust the settings and get what I want. Then I disengage the fuzz and I have to adjust the settings again.

Probably thinking: why not just adjust the fuzz? I've tried that, but bass blaster has better tone shaping qualities than most fuzzes.

There are so many variables here, it might just be the fuzzes I use, it's certainly my tonal preferences. It truly is a great pedal, but it's just not the first pedal that pops into my head when someone mentions high gain.
