Freedom fries

Seeing as its just past the 4th of July and freedom is on the brain right now, I was just wondering what the uptake of the proposed change in name from "French Fries" to "Freedom Fries" was like in your area.

Did you ever use the term "Freedom Fries"?

Did any restuarants / eateries that you know ever formally change the name to "Freedom Fries" and if so, did it stick?

Here in the UK you almost never hear people talking about fries, they either call them chips or use the "proper" French terms like pommes frites or allamettes (sp?). In Australia, when I lived there, they were always just called "fries" of "French fries" and the idea of "Freedom Fries" never caught on.

Never caught on here in my immediate world. I don't think it caught on period. It was silly IMO.

BTW, when I was in OZ, they always asked if I wanted "chips" with my burger.

When I was in NZ they asked me if I wanted "chups"

Fair enough, I'm just somewhat tired of the "holier than thou" responses I get from these guys. As for pot kettle black, that was just a slugworth example
