FRENCH BASS FOR SALE
Unknown maker, no label, ca. 1890 Mirecourt
3⁄4 size, round back
Purchased in 2006 from World of Basses in Germany. Previous owner was NY-based jazz player Gianluca Renzi.
However, in my opinion, where this bass excels is for solo work. It has a very beautiful, dark, cello-like tone. Currently strung with Thomastik Dominant Solos, the bass really sings and projects nicely. Very easy to play, D neck.
Bass is in excellent condition.
It went through a complete back restoration in 2009 by Michael Hartery of Boston Bass Works.
It had one crack on the back which was repaired, old cleats removed and replaced, old cross bar removed and replaced for newly fitted spruce one, tail block reinforced. Neck was refitted in 2010.
The bass sounds and responds better than when it was purchased. It has been very well cared for all these years by a professional musician.
The top is intact and doesn't have a single crack on it.
Carbon fiber end pin.
Includes a beautiful bridge by Michael Hartery with black aluminium adjusters.

I am selling it because I am mainly a jazz player and I own a New Standard Cleveland bass that fits my needs perfectly. This is a wonderful bass that doesn't get enough attention from me, and I feel it could fulfil someone else's needs really well.
