Fret Wire

Hello,
This is my first post at talkbass!!! Has anyone used Banjo or Mandolin Fretwire on their bass. What kind of results did you get? I understand that Leland Sklar uses it but don't remember the specifics. Any help would be gr8ly appreciated.

Hey, welcome aboard!!!

Yea Leland turned Sheldon Dingwall onto mandolin and Banjo frets, so a lot, if not all of the great things done by Sheldon have the ultra-low profile frets. I've never played them, but everyone who has has had nothing but raving things to say about them. Great feel, Great action, effortless playing, etc. here are quite a few Dingwall players on here who I'm sure will chime in and you may even hear from Sheldon himself.

I'll be getting a bass in two weeks with mandolin fretwire- I've never used anything but medium-jumbo and jumbo, so I'll like you know what it's like.
