Double Bass Fretboard

I have a fretless EUB. I would like to place dots for the first 7 frets. Is there a measurement or pattern so I get them just right or do I have to depend on ear?

This is the Bass Guitar side!

I have no idea if such a pattern exists.

But the guys below will certainly know! They build upright basses!

That said:

If it was my bass, I would get some fretboard stickers (more than needed! )

and use my ears (and my tuner)

Stickers have the advantage that they are removable

and they come in all sort of cool colors.

Here on the double bass side, we call it a fingerboard because there are no frets.
