Fretless bass

I recently picked up a MIM fender jazz that's fretless an I am wondering about the neck. Is there certain things as far a care goes that's different from a fretted?

To start with.......do NOT do bends on it, learn to properly create vibrato, more like cellists and violinists do it, not like some rock god idiot thinks it should be done.

Vibrato should come from rocking your finger NOT bending the string!

If I used roundwounds, I would probably coat the fingerboard as well - but I love the sound of flatwounds against bare rosewood.

Whether you want tone or durability, there are better options in this day and age than marine epoxy. Do the job properly, if you want to go down that road.

Just play it. Mine have 20+ years worth coating of chicken grease on it and I've used rounds, flats, halfrounds, etc. If you want more mwah, then lower the action and play closer to the neck, otherwise just play as you would a fretted.
