I fear I must say the dreaded name:
Flea.
Ain't nothin' wrong with Flea, brother.
However, I was unaware he played any fretless, though i've lost track of them the last few years.

i thought JPJones used a fretless P live?(seems like i read that somewhere),,should qualify as`rock'
)Robert Trujillo from suicidal tendencies ( and that other band)

Don't remember who it was, but Robert Plant's bass player, from maybe his second (third?) solo album on used fretless quite a bit.
Then there is Pino with Paul Young (OK - might not be "rock.....").
Oh, and I think it's Pino playing fretless again on much of Don Henly's early solo work.

Larry Klein played the killer fretless line on "Boys of Summer".
I thought it was Pino on "Boys Of Summer"?
Dee Murray on Elton John's early albums, best heard on the 11/17/70 live album.
And.......Me! I play fretless exclusively. And as someone said previously, you usually can't tell by listening (that's intentional).
JPJ played fretless with Zepplin on occasion. Definitely on In My Time of Dying.
