Fretless Jazz strings

You can find fretless bass players around here, that have just about any string you can name on their bass. So, don't be afraid to experiment, and use the strings that give you what you want to hear...
That said? Yes, a lot of fretless players do like TIJF's - with good reason. Yes, they will give you pretty much all the "mwah" you can handle - if that's what you want. They certainly did, when I put a short scale set on my new-to-me '93 Fury Anthem medium scale fretless bass. But, nice as the TI's are, mid-range focused flat wound tone - "mwah" notwithstanding - wasn't what I felt that bass was suited for. The Roto TruBass 88M's that replaced them, gave me the deep, woody, upright-ish tone I was looking for - and, even more "Mwah"...
